From AAWP: Beware! The Wedding-Day Daze Syndrome!

Hi AAWPs:

“The Wedding-Day-Daze Syndrome” is sweeping the country, afflicting about 90% of today’s brides and grooms! It’s a syndrome that you need to be aware of.

Here’s the scenario: You’re invited to a wedding that’s a nightmare. You wait in line an hour to get a drink at the cocktail hour. You wait an hour between courses and are starving. The best man gives a speech that’s so long and boring, that friends and family have put their heads on the guest tables and you can barely hear him above their snores J.

The bride and groom, however, are oblivious. They’re having a great time not knowing that their guests are about to stage a revolution and bolt for the door.

This just-married couple has been struck by the Wedding-Day Daze Syndrome! They were so caught up in themselves and “their” day that they didn’t realize that their wedding, the one they paid thousands of dollars for was far from the perfect fantasy.

There are, however, solutions to this problem. One, you can hire a wedding consultant. Or two, you can appoint a “wedding-day guardian”.

A wedding-day guardian is a friend or family member who knows you well enough to oversee the affair, one who’s intelligent enough to recognize trouble, and one who is strong enough to address the problem and correct it, on the spot.

Before the wedding, take your guardian to your catering property. Introduce them to the catering director, and to the captain or maitre D’ who will be overseeing your wedding. Explain to these people that they will answer to the guardian at the reception. And then…

Go ahead and enjoy your Wedding-Day Daze! Have a great time, knowing that your guardian is there to see that everything runs smoothly, guaranteeing that your wedding day will turn into the fantasy you’ve always imagined, not only for yourself, but your treasured family and friends.

Happy Wedding Planning!
